CHANGE DID COME

 

       ok sooo i know im a little late and im getting crap from my fellow bloggers on how much of a slacker i am when it come to this. I promise to be wayy more on top of it! 

I just flew back from Houston TX. I went out there to cover the Latin Grammys. I AM EXHAUSTED! but i just had to get a few things off my chest. being in Texas made me feel just how much I appreciate NYC. Not that I didn’t have a great time, but living in a melting pot of cultures makes you forget about the ignorance that still lives in other states. 

 I sat down and watched Obama’s speech on youtube last night for the second time and it gave me chills. I almost feel as if were living in Dr.Martin Luther King’s “i have a dream” speech. Ive never seen soo many people of all races feel soo happy and soo united about leadership. Even though one will ALWAYS get criticized no matter what choices are made…i can honestly say I’m happy that one of us made it. No prestigious last name, no multi million dollar empire, just the will to make a brave choice and sacrifice privacy,safety,family..and that’s just a few. All so that we can also tell our children that they too can one day be president and be living proof of that.

BORN DAY, VOTE DAY, SWEET SEXTEEN

 

       Soooo its 3am and i dont have the slightest clue as to why i cant sleep! But today is a very speacial day. Its a day when i get to celebrate yet another year of existence. I tend to get a little sad during this time of the year because I’m soo far away from my family but I’m extremely blessed with an amazing circle of friends who truly love and care for me just as family would.

Tonight it goes down!!!! I’m celebrating my bday the right way alongside my bff DULCE at TOUCH(NYC). This party is gonna be extra dope-a-licious because it will be a great gathering of some of NYC’s best DJs, radio personalities, media, fashion gurus and just great people period! The theme is a mock of the show “super sweet sixteen” soo all the girls will be in over the top dresses and the gentlemen swap tshirt and jeans for suits and ties. I find a man in a suit extreamly sexy!!!! I was fortunate enough to have great sponsors like Mademe clothing, Chivas Regal,Urban Latino Magazine,NUVO, Redken and many others to get some dope goodie bags poppin! The best part of this event is that ALL proceeds will go to the American Cancer Society for Breast cancer research. My mom is a breast cancer patient sooo this really means alot to me. Wait til i post pics of my super betch dress (thanks Patricia Fields) and of course my kick ass shows (thanks Betsey) lol….at last…hopefully ill be toasting to a new era in american politics. A time for Change!

CALLE 13

     A couple weeks ago I went to check out the CALLE 13 concert at Nokia Theater in NYC. Im a bit spoiled when it comes to concerts. it takes a huge or speacial artist for me to go out of my way to see them. I think the last show I actually paid money to see was a ROOTS concert with Cody Chestnut like five years ago. I’m lucky to have super cool friends that host cool concerts…soo when Lboogs told me that MTV3 was part of the show..i just couldn’t resist. I did the whole backstage thing and watched them rip the show. Ive interviewed them before several times. Before and after the grammys and let me just say…Residente and Visitante are definitely these creative supernatural talents that are just down to earth. NOOO just because they rap in Spanish dosen’t mean that their reggaetton artists. Residente is one of the best lyricists I’ve heard in a long time. His flow is a cross between Andre3000 and Eminem. BATALLA DE LOS GALLOS 2008!

ok i know I’m a little late with this one but i have to show the event some love. REDBULL “Batalla de los Gallos” 2008 was held in NYC at the redbull space and some club in the BX that for the life of me…i cant freakin remember the name! ANYWAY, the event was hosted by yours truly and the super cool Crowdmover LBOOGS. Both places were rammed packed as MCs battled ala fight club for the chance to win a trip to LA for the finals. The twist is that all the contestants had to freestyle in spanish! i cant front…it was hot! Some lagged in sub par rhymes and other were swift with crazy punchlines. Im a big fan of freestyling…although i dont do it myself, i have great respect for the art and creativity of it all. Im also a big fan of artists like Calle 13 and Mala rodriguez whose lyrics are mindblowing. At the event, we were blessed with performances by Chavito el lyrico bandido, Cuban linx and Reychester . heres some flix from the event…yeahhhh!
